Maryland is a natural for Geothermal Energy.  The ground temperature here is a steady 57 degrees, which is ideal for both heating and cooling.  Seventy-five percent of the energy produced by geothermal systems comes from the ground beneath your property.  Taking full advantage of this clean energy source makes sense. Energy use with geothermal is typically HALF the amount used by conventional HVAC systems.  Greenhouse gas emissions are also cut in half.  The cost of a geothermal system is generally recovered in energy savings within a few years.

New Federal tax credits cover 30% of the cost of a typical geothermal installation.  The Maryland Energy Administration's newly revamped Geothermal Heat Pump Grant Program offers up to $3000 for residential systems and $10,000 for commercial systems. 

Geothermal heating and cooling provides superior comfort, low operating cost, low life-cycle cost, low maintenance and excellent efficiency.  According to the EPA, a geothermal system is "the most energy-efficient, environmentally clean and cost-effective space-conditioning system available".
